Hip or Heat?

Every Christmas I'll go to Melaka with the family, a tradition. It's no different this year. We went to Jonker Street to have some of the mouth-watering cendol before going to Pahlawan.

The traffic was really bad. Cars were everywhere you'll think it's raining cars. Most of these cars have the number plate starting with "J...". Lots of Johoreans I guess. And we all Johoreans know that parking on public holiday requires no parking coupon but this isn't so for Melaka though. So,

I can see the traffic polices have fun going around saman-ing people that day. LOL!
The overall trip was pleasant I guess (everywhere is fun with the family (=). However there's one thing that bothers me though. There seems to be this "Ha-ha" trend going on in Melaka's fashion scene. For those who are not quite certain what is the "Ha-ha" trend, it refers to the Harajuku and Korean (i'm guessing Hanyang) fashion scene where the girls are dressed in flowery trapeze dress with lace-trimmings ala Lolita style.

Those sold in Pahlawan have more lace.

They might actually appealed as cute if not for one thing. The material used for these dressses are thick and rough canvas-like cloth.

Which makes me wonder. Either Malaysia is going to have winter soon or the merchants here are just deluded. How in the world is one going to wear those without drenching in excessive sweat? That's not counting those boots, woolen jacket and woolly caps that goes with the dress.

And to pay Rm199+ for a heat experience is just moronic. Why couldn't they use more practical and conventional materials such as chiffon or just normal cotton? That would certainly cut the cost and save some dare-devils from heat stroke.

Now, will someone work on the idea please?
